Member of the U.S Armed Forces gets his First Massage…

Recently, MollieShea worked on a person who is active duty military and had this to say a few days after his first massage.
“We had an airborne operation Monday (jumped from a perfectly good airplane for no good reason other than the pure thrill of it). I truly attribute the massage to my ability to complete the training event. Given the 120+ pounds of equipment strapped to me during the jump I would have had quite a bit of difficulty with the pain I was feeling prior to the massage. Thank you for your talent and attention to my trouble spots. You’re truly a master of your craft.”
Thank you, I am so glad you benefited from your first massage ever! And Thank You for your service to our country. –MollieShea, LMT

Can I boost my Immune System?
Posted in: Blog by chirocare on February 13, 2012
According to the Harvard Medical School:
There is still much that researchers don’t know about the intricacies and interconnectedness of the immune response…The immune system is precisely that — a system, not a single entity. To function well, it requires balance and harmony.
We do know there are things that hurt the immune system like smoking and lack of sleep, poor diet, and less than optimal weight.
We know there are things that will help, like improving your diet, exercise and regular hand washing.
But with the research not revealing a “silver bullet” we will stick with what we DO know.
We know what’s worked here…Acupuncture, Standard Process Purification Program and Coryza Forte Supplement. Read more on these below.
Acupuncture…
Both Dr. Gina and Dr. Spath have boosted their immune systems with treatment by Joy, our acupuncturist. Dr. Gina was amazed at the fast results she felt with increased energy and a decrease in symptoms. When antibiotics weren’t working, 3 acupuncture treatments got her back on her feet. Dr. Spath also noticed that 3 treatment s worked really well for her condition.
How does Acupuncture work?
There is a flow of energy through the body, acupuncture clears the blockage in a body’s system. In this case the immune system. There are different techniques that can either increase energy flow, or remove blockage. The goal is to establish balance and harmony.
Joy has many techniques that she incorporates into her treatment which may include herbs to improve balance in the system.
We know people have a lot of questions about acupuncture. To fill in some of the gaps, Joy will be having an in office seminar Thursday, February 23, at 5:30pm to guide you through. She is also regularly available to answer any questions you may have.
Standard Process Purification…
We are exposed to external toxins everyday: pollutants, pesticides, chemicals. Our bodies respond internally to these external forces. Although our body does a fine job of ridding most toxins it can become overburdened. Purification aids in your body’s natural efforts to expel. It also helps in maintaining optimal weight – which studies have proven to be important to your health and vitality.
Dr. Spath is going to start the program March 5st. We will have a seminar, here in our office, to learn more about the program on Monday February 27th at 6pm. This is a free seminar lead by a Dawn Watters, a representative for Standard Process. Dr. Spath will be there as well to answer any questions you might have. As a bonus, if you start with Dr. Spath you’ll receive a discount of 10% on the program.
Coryza Forte…
Dr. Gina, our staff here, and many patients have gotten terrific results with the use of Coryza Forte to boost the immune system.
Coryza Forte is a blend of nutrients in a capsule that helps fight conditions including colds, flu, allergies, bronchitis and sinusitis. Clinical studies have reflected its effectiveness and pointed out how helpful its combination of ingredients is. For example, the action of both vitamin C and bioflavonoids are enhanced when the two are taken together.
It also contains Echinacea, a very popular immune system booster
In addition, the blend also includes vitamin A, Beta Carotene, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, calcium, zinc, all water soluble vitamins, 22 amino acids, 27 mineral salts, and various enzymes.
Please contact us for more information. We are here to provide you options to help your body help itself.

Massage Therapy After Exercise and in Hospitals

1) Great Article from www.sciencemag.org!
“Massage therapy is commonly used during physical rehabilitation of skeletal muscle to ameliorate pain and promote recovery from injury. Although there is evidence that massage may relieve pain in injured muscle, how massage affects cellular function remains unknown. ….when administered to skeletal muscle that has been acutely damaged through exercise, massage therapy appears to be clinically beneficial by reducing inflammation and promoting mitochondrial biogenesis.”

2) Interesting Article from www.foxcharlotte.com
“Research shows in addition to patient satisfaction, alternative therapies decrease length of stay and more. “There’s reduced requests for pain medications, there’s reduction of anxiety so they’re a lot calmer for their therapies and their treatments,” says Waxman.”
