Dr. Gina here. This is a photo of my back after a session with Joy. No she didn’t beat me. She performed cupping which is a technique to help rid my body of toxins. I had no voice yesterday after a day of coughing. She used 5 cups during treatment and notice only 2 show bruising. Those are directly related to my symptoms. The areas bruise as a result of the toxins being released. How cool is that? Guess what? Today I can speak and my coughing is about 80-90% better. I’m so lucky to have her as a part of my team. Prevent or treat your Cold & Flu with Acupuncture!
Clinical studies have suggested that using acupuncture to treat colds and flu can effectively reduce the incidence of upper respiratory tract infections and shorten the length of the illness through its balancing and strengthening of the body’s systems.
Seasonal changes may influence our body’s internal environments. Although bacteria, and viruses are everywhere, they can only lead to illness when our bodies are weakened and unbalanced, then a favorable environment is available for them to thrive leading to a cold or flu.
Acupuncture supports the immune system by strengthening your Wei Qi (Defense Energy or “Immune system”).
* Needle insertion along key points of your energy pathways promotes the circulation of blood and energy.
* It can build the outer defense layers of the skin and muscle so that germs and viruses cannot enter through them.
Do you already have a cold?? That’s OK. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can also help with the chills, sniffles, sore throat or fever in a safe, non-toxic way that doesn’t ‘t impact your body with harmful antibiotics.
Ask about seasonal treatments. Four treatments a year will tonify the inner organ systems and correct the minor annoyances before they become serious problems.
Schedule with Joy Sun today!
“Once you start going to a Chiropractor you are going to have
to go for the rest of your life!”
This is a rumor, sort of a buyer beware warning.
You don’t have to do anything that is good for your body.
Do you have to eat broccoli for the rest of your Life?
No, but you know it’s good for you.
Do you have to renew that gym membership?
No, but it’s important, so you do it.
Do you want to go to yoga class?
Maybe not, but you know how great you feel after you go.
Do you like having to remember to take your vitamins?
No, but it’s a good practice to improve your quality of life.
We don’t mind spending money on the things we get instant gratification from like our hair, nails, clothes and cars. But will those things contribute to a better YOU?
The choice is yours to reap the benefits or face the consequences. And the same goes for how you treat your body. It’s the only one you have!
Having a chiropractor in your health arsenal brings a lifetime of benefits. Here’s how…
- We encourage motion in the spine which will improve how you function
- We correct compensations that develop from improper use or repetitive motion
- We correct postural alterations that can help improve your health, appearance and prevent aging
- We teach you how to build a strong core
- We guide you through your own maintenance with proper home care
- We can help you with exercise, fitness and nutrition
- We can prevent long treatment plans by correcting weakness in you body before they become chronic problem
- We will teach you how to help yourself!
Doesn’t this just make sense…just like eating your broccoli?

St. Louis Mom Releases Book–Love Trumps Grief: The fight to save our sons and the gift that saved us.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
St. Louis native Kristin Akin has released a book chronicling her family’s journey through every parent’s worst nightmare and beyond.
In August of 2007, Akin’s 10-week-old son Andrew became ill, beginning a 33-minth fight against Hemophagocytic Lymphoshistiocytosis (HLH), a rare immune disorder that affects roughly one in one million children. Unfortunately, Kristin and her husband, Justin, soon learned that this difficult-to-diagnose disease affected both their sons. Over the course of almost three years and four bone-marrow transplants between the boys, the Akins lost Andrew age 2 and Matthew age 5, to HLH.
Almost one year to the day after Andrew died, and four months after Matthew’s death, the Akins received surprising word that they were chosen to be adoptive parents and within a week, had their newborn son, William, in their arms.
The experience prompted Akin to write about her ordeal to share their story and raise awareness of HLH and the National Bone Marrow Registry.
Said Akin, “Writing the book was, without a doubt, one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but as they say, a dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work”.
Akin’s book, in paperback, hardback and electronic form, is currently available for purchase on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and on the Akin’s author site: kristinakin.com. The proceeds will go to The Matthew and Andres Akin Foundation.
“We established The Matthew and Andrew Akin Foundation to provide resources for children and their families going through the bone marrow transplant process,” said Akin.
She said that ultimately, the goal is to raise money for the foundation, awareness about the rare disease and to motivate people to join the National Bone Marrow Registry.
